Obituaries

Rudy Russell Nichols, age 67, of Iron Station, died on Wednesday, October 2, 2013.

His funeral service will be 11:00 am on Friday, October 4, 2013 at East Lincoln Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Edward Reese and Rev. Charles Kinley officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home.

Rudy was born April 2, 1946 in Clay County, North Carolina to the late Clyde Henry and Mary Wilson Nichols.   In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Henry Nichols, and a sister, June Parker.  He worked as a supervisor for Clariant Chemical.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Botts Nichols of the home; a son, David Nichols and wife Mindy of Iron Station; a daughter, Dana Jackson of Iron Station; five brothers, Wayne Nichols and wife Louise of Mt. Holly, Tommy Nichols and wife Ruby of Murphy, Jerry Nichols and wife Rita, Allan Nichols and wife Diane, and Ray Nichols, all of Hayesville; two sisters, Eulene Vassey and husband Elbert of Alexis, NC and Sandra Garrett and husband Rex, of Hiawassee, GA; three grandchildren, Heather Jackson, Matthew Jackson, and Logan Nichols; and two great-grandchildren, Hayden Jackson and Khloe James.
