Dorothy Goodson Shrum, age 84, of the Brian Center, and formerly of 2263 Ivey Church Road in Maiden, died on Tuesday, October 15, 2013.
Her funeral service will be 2: 00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2013 at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Gibson and Rev. Randy Setzer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Dorothy was born September 10, 1929 in Lincoln County to the late Lester Miller and Greyannis Barker Goodson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Shrum. She worked as a seamstress for Cochrane Furniture and in her spare time enjoyed canning, gardening, and making fried pies and homemade quilts.
She is survived by two daughters, Melinda Sloan and husband Sam of Lincolnton, and Candy Connors and husband Steven of Georgia; a sister, Margaret Lawing of Lincolnton; and five grandchildren.
