Obituaries

Mrs. Margaret Inez Harless McConnell, age 89, of 1180 Wise Road in Vale died Friday, December 27, 2013.

Her funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Messiah United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Miller and Rev. Kevin Costner officiating. Burial will follow in Russells Chapel Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. McConnell was born on February 17, 1924 in Lincoln County to the late Albert Milton and Elmer Mae Blackburn Harless.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Alexander McConnell and one daughter, Alice McConnell.   She was a lifelong member of Russells Chapel and Messiah United Methodist Church.  Mrs. McConnell was a homemaker who loved to cook and enjoyed her family.

Survivors include three sons, Ronald E. McConnell and wife Frances of Vale, William D. McConnell and wife Brenda of Vale, Allen “Butch” McConnell and wife Elizabeth of Gastonia; one daughter, Gail Campbell and husband Dale of Vale; two sisters, Ruby Wyont and Mary Hedgepath; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
