As 2013 comes to an end, Margie Beal Self made her journey home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28. Margie was a very devoted, selfless mother, always taking care of her children and always putting them first. Margie lived in Lincolnton for 28 years and had just recently moved back to Lincolnton from her homeplace in Maiden. Living within blocks of her children for the past two years, being with and spending time with her family gave Margie the most pleasure. For the past 19 years she could be found at the fitting rooms in Wal-Mart, perched upon her stool greeting her callers. Many people would make a point when they heard her voice over the PA system to stop by and see her. She loved her Wal-Mart family of co-workers and customers. Her retirement began at age 80 and her goal was to spend more time with family. She was a faithful member of Lawing's Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden, and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 114 Lincolnton. Margie was loved by so many and the one word always used to describe her was what a “Sweet Lady” she is, her genuine kindness will be dearly missed in this world. Margie's legacy will continue on with her children, son, David D. Self and wife, Donna B. Self, daughters, Cissy Self Anderson, Karen Self Hurt and husband, Jeff R. Hurt, of Lincolnton NC grandchildren, Amanda Hurt Hilton and husband, William John Hilton III, of Hickory NC, grandson, Jeffrey Reid Hurt and wife, Kelli Bradley Hurt, Michael B Smith of Lincolnton NC, Jason B Anderson and wife Pam of Amissville VA, and Dana and Kyle Gahagan of Clayton NC, and great-grandchildren, McKinley Ballard Hilton, Hadley Reid Hilton, Levi Anderson, Zoe Anderson, and David Anderson.
