Mrs. Mary Louise Sain Abernethy, age 92, of Howards Creek Mill Road died Saturday, January 11, 2014.

Her funeral will be 2:00p.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 at Messiah United Methodist church with Rev. Kevin Miller and Rev. Linda Stack-Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45p.m Monday prior to the service at the church fellowship hall..

Mrs. Abernethy was born on March 1, 1931 in Lincoln County to the late Augustus Benjamin and Hattie Louise Heavner Sain. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband William David "Dave"
Abernethy, one daughter Betty Louise Abernethy Warlick, granddaughter Deborah Shelene “Shelly” Abernethy Scronce. She was a life long member of Zion and Messiah Methodist Church. She worked in textiles, enjoyed Messiah United Methodist Church Women, Lincoln County Home Extension Club and the LINC route. Mrs. Abernethy’s real love was her family and church.

Survivors include; one daughter, Dorothy A. Carpenter and husband John of Laurinburg; son-in-law, William R. Warlick of Lincolnton and son, Max Abernethy of Vale; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
