Obituaries

Mr. Gordon Randolph “Randy” Yarber, III , age 70, of Denver died on Sunday, January 26, 2014.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Grace Covenant Church, 17301 Statesville Road, Cornelius, NC 28031.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 pm on Thursday prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Yarber was born August 26, 1943 in Ft. Lewis, Washington to the late Hilda Snyder Yarber and Gordon Randolph Yarber, Jr.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, Eason Randolph Clarke.  He is the retired president and owner of Yarber, Inc. Manufacturer’s Representatives, Industrial Packaging.  Mr. Yarber was a long time member of Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius, NC.  He was a founding member of the Denver/Lake Norman Rotary Club. 

Randy loved his family, his church and his community.  He always had a quick smile and a big hug to share with everyone he met.  We remember him for his generosity and love for others.  He served his church in many ways, as an elder, council member and with several outreach and mission efforts, including Father’s Heart Adoption Ministries and Sonshine Center foster home in Linefork, KY.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sandra Collins Yarber; two sons, Andy Yarber and wife Ann of Denver, John Yarber and wife Allison of Mt. Holly; one daughter, Debbi Clarke and husband Walt of Raleigh, NC; one brother, Ed Yarber and wife Danielle of Roanoke, Va; two sisters, Libby Ward and husband Don of Hendersonville, NC, Sally Kelly and husband Butch of Stokesdale, NC; one brother-in-law, Les Collins and wife Billie; four grandchildren, Seth and Abigale Yarber, Emma Katherine and Redding Clarke; numerous nieces, nephews, and many loving friends and neighbors.
