Obituaries

Mr. Max Rufus Setzer, age 78, of High Shoals, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014.

His funeral will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Long
Shoals Wesleyan Church with Pastors Jon Mann and Dickie Whitener officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:45pm on Tuesday prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Setzer was born July 24, 1935 in Gaston County to the late Clarence and Mary Setzer.  Max was the most devoted, loving, caring and giving husband, father and grandfather this world has ever known.  Family and friends meant the world to Max.   He was retired from Setzer’s Buick Pontiac.  Max was a lifelong member of Long Shoals Wesleyan Church. 

He is survived by his wife, Ibera Mosteller Setzer of the home; one son, Nathan Setzer and wife Angie of Lincolnton; four daughters, Sherron Gee, Melissa Wilfong and husband Alan, Teresa Lagassee and husband Jeff, all of Lincolnton and Deanna Brooks and husband Alan of TN; one brother, Ned Setzer of Lincolnton; two sisters, Mary Nell Bell of High Shoals and Evelyn Tino of Gastonia; eleven grandchildren, Summer Gee, Dustin Gee and wife Amber, Casey Gee, Colby Setzer and wife Christen, Cori Setzer, Tyler Wilfong, Kelsey Wilfong, Sarah Helms and husband Dustin, Joshua Peeler, Kaleb Brooks and Nick Brooks; six great grandchildren, Addison Gee, Ryleigh Gee, Ansley Gee, Chandler Setzer, Carleigh Setzer and NoraLeigh Helms.
