Mr. Bill Harold Yoder, age 86, of 3223 Cotton Mill Lane in Crouse, died on Monday, February 10, 2014.
His funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crouse with Pastor Rick Sloop and Pastor Gene Bruce officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.
Bill was born December 1, 1927 in Lincoln County to the late Robert Clayton and Annie Mae Elmore Yoder. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers Robert Leslie Yoder, Jack Chesley Yoder, and Ray Elliott Yoder, and great-granddaughter, Cadence Elizabeth Hill. Bill graduated from Lincolnton High School in 1945. He then served in the United States Army where he was a corporal with the 6th Infantry Division in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1947. Upon discharge, he worked for Rhodes Rhyne Mill as a manager, and then later for Lincoln County Schools where he worked in maintenance.
He is survived by his wife, Wilhelmina “Wennie” Reynolds Yoder of the home; daughters, Renee Hill and husband Jim of Durham, and Anne Marie Broadway and husband Bob of Gastonia; five grandchildren, Jennifer Hill Hobgood and husband Mike, James Thomas Hill, Jr. and wife Jessica, Elizabeth Hill Yarboro and husband Ted, Graham Hill, and Caroline Broadway; and four great-grandchildren, Andrew “Drew” Hobgood, Jacob “Jake” Hobgood, Eleanor “Ella” Hobgood, and James “Tripp” Thomas Hill, III.
