Mr. Hubert Lee Gilbert, age 85, of 430 Shuford Circle Drive in Newton, and formerly of Lincolnton, died on Friday, February 14, 2014.
His funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Wyant and Rev. Larry Bolick officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Hubert was born May 24, 1928, in Lincoln County to the late Marshall Emmanuel and Addie Wilson Gray Gilbert. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Miriam Stroud Gilbert. He was the owner/operator of coin-operated laundries and car washes in the local area.
He is survived by a son Larry Gilbert and wife Diane of Charlotte; a daughter Beth Wrenn and husband Lee of Kill Devil Hills, NC; a brother John Gilbert of Birmingham, AL; and three grandchildren, Ingrid Wheelahan and husband Richard of Charlotte, Philip Wrenn of Raleigh, and Anna Bruton and husband Michael of Beaufort, SC.
