Obituaries

Mr. Matthew Byrne Davis, Jr., age 74, of 4058 Asbury Church Road in Lincolnton, died on February 24, 2014.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Davis was born February 16, 1940, in Columbus county to the late Matthew Byrne Davis, Sr. and Frances Sledge Davis. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Faulkner Davis. He served in the United States Navy and the North Carolina National Guard during the Vietnam War, and then later worked as a mechanic for the North Carolina National Guard. 

He is survived by two sons, Locke Davis and wife Christine of Catawba and William Delmar Davis and wife Barbara of Myrtle Beach, SC; two sisters, Julia Hooper of Salisbury and Elizabeth Teal; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
