Obituaries

Mrs. Clara Belle Hardin Blackwell age 93, of The Brian Center in Lincolnton and formerly of Norman Fair Avenue died Saturday, March 1, 2014.

Mrs. Blackwell was born February 18, 1921 in Rutherford County. She was the daughter of the late Claude Hardin and Ethel Goforth Hardin. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Reece Blackwell, Sr. and infant grandson Richard Bradley Blackwell. Clara was very active in the First United Methodist Church of Lincolnton serving on various organizations. She loved her church family including her trips with the seniors.

Funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, Lincolnton. Rev. David Wyant will officiate. The family will receive friends in the Philathia classroom at the church from 2:00 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. prior to the funeral.  Burial will be at Hollybrook Cemetery.

Survivors include; sons, William Reece Blackwell, Jr. and wife, Cheryl of Chapel Hill, NC and Rick Blackwell and wife, Patty of Lincolnton, NC; daughter Jane Blackwell Lawing and husband, Ronnie of Lincolnton, NC; grandchildren, Jonathan Blackwell and wife Kristin, Chris Blackwell,  Brian Blackwell, Jason Blackwell and wife Kerry, Dylan Lawing, Kara Lawing; great grandchildren Avery Lauren Blackwell, Calvin Reece Blackwell and Mia Brynn Blackwell
