Shirley S. Frelich, age 83, of Sanford, and formerly of Lincolnton until 2009, passed away at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst on Monday, March 3, 2014.

Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Shirley was born May 7, 1930, in Cleveland County to the late Clarence Sloetzer and Lois Gordon Sloetzer Cornwell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Lucian Frelich and a brother, Chris Cornwell. She worked as a sales clerk for Belk.

She is survived by a son, Monty Ray Frelich and wife, Sandra of Sanford; a daughter, Carla Davis and husband, Dennis of Vale; three grandchildren, Courtney Jones and husband David of Sanford, Katie Pearson and husband Mark of Vale, and Kellie Davis; two great-grandchildren, Lily Ann-Marie Jones and John Andrew Ray Jones of Sanford, and two brothers, Richard Cornwell and wife, Martha of Cherryville, and Morris Cornwell and wife, Diane of Lincolnton.
