Obituaries

Mr. William Austin Towery, age 81, of 3260 Reepsville Road in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, March 16, 2014.

His funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy T. Byers officiating. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Towery was born June 26, 1932 to the late Burt and Laura Jane Turner Towery. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Devette Dedmon Towery, and second wife Stella Towery. He worked as a dye house foreman.

He is survived by two daughters, Gail Gunter of Maiden and Carolyn Reeise of Oklahoma; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
