Mrs. Myrtle Walker Smith, age 92, of the Brian Center in Lincolnton, died on Saturday, March 22, 2014.
Her funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Devine and Rev. Doug McClain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Smith was born December 16, 1921 in East Baton Rouge, LA to the late Radcliffe Walker and Florence Smith Walker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Helen White. Mrs. Smith worked in retail sales.
She is survived by one son, Gary Ray Nickens, Sr of Lincolnton; one daughter, Doris Jane Edwards of Mississippi; grandchildren, Gary Ray Nickens, Jr., Charles David Nickens, Crystal Smith, Darlene Mericer, Travis Mericer, Darilyn Williams Daire, Renee Williams Elmore, and several great grandchildren.
