Obituaries

Mrs. Ina Bell Armstrong Withers McAlister, age 98, of  Blackburn Bridge Road, Maiden died Saturday, April 5, 2014.

Her funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Painter and Rev. Jaie McKnight Warlick officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Warlick Funeral Home in Lincolnton. At other times, the family will be at the home of Charles Withers, 2401 Blackburn Bridge Road, Maiden, NC.

Mrs. McAlister was born on March 14, 1916 in Lincoln County and was the daughter of the late Thomas Franklin Armstrong and Mary Etta Carpenter Armstrong.  She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Elgin J. Van Withers, her second husband, Ted McAlister and two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Withers Green and Annie Louise Withers Henderson.  Mrs. McAlister was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Charles Thomas Withers and wife, Hazel of Maiden, Glenn Elliott Withers and wife, Janie of Ocean Isle, NC and David Lee Withers and wife, Lois of Virginia; three daughters, Frances Ruth Withers Covil and husband, William Daryell of Lincolnton, Glenda Withers Henderson and husband, Joe of Shelby and Shirley Withers King and husband, Jack of Maiden; twenty grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
