Obituaries

Mr. John William Ross, age 84, of 131 S J Crawford Road in Lincolnton, died on Saturday, April 12, 2014.

His funeral will be 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrel Bost and Rev. Hinkle Rayfield officiating. Burial will follow in Landers Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Ross was born October 26, 1929, in Gaston County to the late Robert Benjamin and Pearl Hefner Ross. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Ola Mae Payseur Ross. He was retired from Cochrane Furniture.  Mr. Ross loved gardening and farming.  He was a member of Arrowood Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda York and husband Edward of Lincolnton, Regina Miller and husband Richard of Denver; two brothers, Robert (Bob) Ross of Lincolnton, Floyd Ross of Lincolnton; one sister, Frances Ballenger of Lincolnton; two grandsons, Edward York and Sebastian Sigmon; two granddaughters, Audrey York and Blaze Sigmon; one great-grandson, John William Avery.
