Mr. Charles Bryant Lawing, Jr. age 79, of 1101 Jennifer Lane in Cherryville, died on Sunday, May 4, 2014.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Hollybrook Cemetery with DAV military rites. Rev. Dr. Vince Hefner will officiate. The family will receive friends at the home from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014.
Mr. Lawing was born February 26, 1935, in Caldwell County, to the late Charles Bryant Lawing, Sr. and Flossie Rudisill Lawing. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Lawing Carswell. He served in the United States Navy, member of the American Legion and VFW, and owned and operated Lawing’s Men’s Shop with his father in downtown Lincolnton for many years. He later retired from ownership of Jansen’s Cleaning Service.
He is survived by his wife, Anice Bumgarner Lawing of the home; two daughters, Laura Helms and husband Kenny of Cherryville and Tricia Thornton of Sherrills Ford; granddaughter, Hunter Helms; and grandson, Brandon Helms.
