Obituaries

Albert Franklin Homesley, age 78, of Iron Station, died on Tuesday, May 6, 2014.

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Pearl Baptist Church with Rev. Malcolm Ivey officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Gardens in Mt. Holly. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Homesley was born July 24, 1935, in Lincoln County, to the late John Jacob and Edna Marie Cloninger Homesley. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, John Martin Homesley, and siblings Marie Fourshee, John Henry “Bud” Homesley, Pauline Brown, Grover Cleveland Homesley, Lucille Chronister, Mandy Homesley, Robert Homesley, Inez Rhyne, and father and mother-in-law Waverly “Lefty” and Beulah Richard. He served in the United States Air Force and then later worked for Carboloy Tools/GE.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Richard Homesley of the home; a daughter, Tina H. Ruprecht and husband Mark of Chesterfield, MI; a sister, Lillian H. Sain of Lincolnton; granddaughter, Erica Smith and husband Kevin of Mt. Pleasant, MI; and special niece and nephew Sherry and Dennis Strange and numerous other nieces and nephews.
