Obituaries

Cleda Hawkins Watson, age 71, of Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, May 20, 2014.

Her funeral service will be 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mrs. Watson was born August 3, 1942, in Montcalm, WV, to the late Wesley Lee and Martha Frances Ayers Hawkins.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ezekiel Charles Watson, two brothers, Wesley Hawkins and Randy Hawkins, and two sisters, Lucy Roark and Virginia Roark. She worked as a dietician, was a member of Middle Cross Baptist Church in Crouse and loved to sing in the choir, cook, and working with her flowers.  

She is survived by a son, Darryl Watson and wife Kim of Lincolnton; two daughters, Barbara Mabe and husband Robert of Lincolnton and Jennifer Stonefield and husband Robert of Christiansburg, VA; two grandchildren, Derek Watson and wife Stephanie of Lincolnton and Casey Mason of Lincolnton; one great-grandson, Elijah Watson; three brothers, Richard Shrader and wife Etta Lee of West Virginia, Howard Shrader of West Virginia, and Gary Hawkins and wife Tammy of Ohio; and a sister, Judy Casiano and husband Jose of Tennessee.
