Obituaries

Mrs. Isabelle Wood Brown, age 93, of West Highway 27 Lincolnton passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Cardinal Care.

Her funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Brown was born on July 4, 1920 in Lincoln County and was the daughter of the late Daniel Clyde Wood and Ruth Styers Wood. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Winslow Theodore Brown, in 2007 as well as a son, Larry Ronald Brown at the age of six, and brothers, Jim Wood and Dean Wood, and sisters, Nell Johnson and Christine Helms.  Isabelle was a wonderful cook and was know for her chocolate pies.  She retired from Crowell Hospital as a dietician.  She was a long time and active member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughter, Linda Smith and husband, Don of Vale, NC; grandchildren, Myra Stallings and husband, Seth, Chad Smith and wife, Becky; great grandchildren, Josh Stallings, Dylan, Callie and Camille Smith.
