Obituaries
Mr. James Hazel “Hap” Heavner, age 85, of 242 Bob Burgin Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, June 3, 2014.
His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael White officiating. Burial will follow in the Gainsville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Heavner was born November 23, 1928, in Gaston county, to the late Vonnie Lee and Nancy Moore Heavner. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by children Carol Heavner and Robert Heavner, and siblings Maggie Heavner, J.B. Heavner, Lester Heavner, and Bobby Heavner. For the last 40 years he worked for Lincoln County in ground maintenance and also for Lincoln County Animal Control. Hap enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, and taking care of his animals.
He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Harrelson (Clay, Sr.) of Lincolnton; a son, Sonny Kistler (Barbara) of Lincolnton; sisters, Vivian P. Dellinger (Joe) of Cherryville and Gladys Mauney of Dallas; four grandchildren, Christy Pless (Ray), Stephanie Gay (Jamie), Clayboy Harrelson (Haylee), and Melissa Kistler; eight great-grandchildren, Jeff Pless, Austin Gay, Addison Gay, Aaron Kistler, Judd Harrelson, Tyler Pless, Zander Harrelson, and Kolby Pless; and his beloved pet “Poochie.”
