Obituaries

Estelle Cobb Long, age 94, of Stanley Total Living Center, died on Monday, June 9, 2014. 

Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Alexis Baptist Church with Rev. Sandy Marks and Rev. Scott Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Warlick Funeral Home in Lincolnton.

Mrs. Long was born April 4, 1920, in Lincoln County, to the late Grover A. and Gerthie Nantz Cobb. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth V. Long and two brothers, Walter Cobb and his wife, Josephine, and Robert Cobb. She worked in textiles.

She is survived by a son, Daniel A. Long of Stanley; two daughters, Carolyn Sellers and husband Joe of Mt. Holly and Joyce Lineberger and husband Neil of Gastonia; sister-in-law, Ann Cobb of Lincolnton; one granddaughter, Laura Bailey and husband John of Belmont; one great-granddaughter, Emily Zarate; and a number of nieces and nephews.
