Obituaries

Mr. James Harold Martin, age 89, of Lincolnton, died on Monday, June 16, 2014.

His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at McKendree United Methodist Church with Rev. Gregg Plott and Rev. Roy Sides officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Martin was born January 28, 1925, in Lincoln County, to the late James Jacob “JJ” and Sara Canipe Martin. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers Earl Martin, Charles Martin, Walter Martin, Hugh Martin, Paul Martin, and John Martin. He retired after 48 years from Broyhill Furniture.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl Grigg Martin of the home;one son Harold Dean Martin and wife Deedie of Lincolnton; two daughters, Theresa Martin Beal of Maiden and Regina Martin Digh and husband Phil of Lincolnton; a sister, Elizabeth “Lib” Sezter; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Martin, Craig and Micah Beal, Courtney  Martin, Matthew and Steven Milstead, and Michael Digh; and six great-grandchildren.
