Mr. Larry Steve Turner, age 75, of 611 Childs Street in Lincolnton, died on Friday, June 20, 2014.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence officiating.

Larry was born July 8, 1938, in Lincoln County, to the late Dick and Myrtle Travis Turner. He began his law enforcement career as a Lincolnton police officer and detective. Then, he retired as a sergeant with the North Carolina DMV enforcement section. He retired a second time with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department. He was a Master Mason with the Lincoln Lodge #137, a member of the American Legion for 40 years, served in the North Carolina National Guard, and for many years he was a part of a Tuesday morning golf foursome. He loved his church and was a very active member.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Caskey Turner of the home; two sons, Brent Turner and Darren Turner, both of Lincolnton; a sister, Norma T. Willis of Orlando; and two grandchildren, Morgan T. Fox and Gracie Turner, both of Lincolnton.
