Mr. David Ray Armstrong, age 66, of 150A Neel Road in Salisbury, died on Sunday, June 29, 2014.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Hawkins and Rev. Dick Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Armstrong was born December 15, 1947, in Lincoln County, to the late Amos Myers and Louise Michaels Armstrong. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Armstrong. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and then later worked as a shipping clerk for Precision Industries in Conover. David was an avid guitar player all of his life and was the lead guitarist for the Heavenly Echoes. He enjoyed planting flowers, playing music, flying model airplanes, and loved his family and his church.
He is survived by his wife, Schronda Carpenter Armstrong of Salisbury; a daughter, Adria Ramirez and husband Daniel of Texas; a son, Christopher Armstrong and wife Sarah of Maiden; four brothers, Henry Armstrong of Lincolnton, Frank Armstrong and Kemp Armstrong, both of Maiden, and John Armstrong of Mississippi; a sister, Ruth Rudisill of Maiden; and five grandchildren, Katlyn, Leilani, Makayla, Isaac, and Gabriel Armstrong.
