Roger Niess, 66, currently of Stanley, North Carolina, died on July 5, 2014, in Presbyterian Hospital, Huntersville, North Carolina. Roger lived in Honesdale, Emmaus, and Macungie, PA prior to moving to NC. He was the husband of Karen (Heydt) Niess. They celebrated their 40th anniversary in September.
Roger was born in Allentown and was the son of the late Reginald and Megan (Evans) Niess. He graduated fro Honesdale High School and attended Goldey-Beacom College. Roger enlisted in the US Navy, stationed in Virginia Beach. His last tour of duty was in the Mediterranean Sea on the JFK. Roger was an Electrical Designer in the Nuclear Department at PPL for 30 years and later worked for trucking companies; Motorsports Authentics, Cooper Kenworth, and Truck Movers. He enjoyed traveling through the US, hunting, and attending dirt track racing.
Memorials services will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday evening, July 11, 2014, in North Carolina at Warlick Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 6:45 pm prior to the service.
