Obituaries

Nobel Elseana Holmes Pauley, age 83, of 2374 Bynum Estates Road in Iron Station, died on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.

Her funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014, at Pearl Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Tim Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Pauley was born April 6, 1931, in Saltville, Virginia, to the late Felix and Blanche Blevins Holmes. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin Pauley, five brothers. David Holmes, Ed Holmes, Earl Homes, Carl Holmes, and Joe Holmes, and three sisters, Lorene Holmes Barrett, Rachel Holmes Jackson, and Ruby Holmes Smith. She worked as an assembler for Homelite.

She is survived by three sons, George Pauley, James Pauley, Jr., and Ralph Pauley, all of Lincolnton; three brothers, Charlie Holmes of Lexington, Roy Lee Holmes of Baltimore, MD, and Garland Holmes of Saltville, VA; one sister, Fannie King of Lexington; ten grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
