Obituaries

Mrs. Lorene Carpenter Best, age 95 of Lincolnton passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014.

Her funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Antioch Lutheran Church in Dallas with Pastor George Rhyne officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. on Sunday at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Best was born June 27, 1919 in Gaston County daughter of the late Clifford Carpenter and Zona Farris Carpenter.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Marion S. Best, one sister, Doris Carpenter Humphreys, and twin brothers, Derry and Jerry Carpenter.  Lorene loved fishing and camping and was an excellent seamstress. 

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Best Blum; two grandchildren, D. Todd Blum and wife Denise and Lorie Blum Williams and husband Mike; six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at CMC-Lincoln and the wonderful care at the Brian Center in Lincolnton.
