Obituaries

Edna Carpenter Ormand, age 90, of Carillon Assisted Living in Lincolnton and formerly of Charlotte, died on Saturday, August 2, 2014.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Hollybrook Cemetery with Rev. Ronald Ritchie officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Mrs. Ormand was born February 16, 1924, in Lincoln county, to the late John Sain and Callie Beal Carpenter. She retired from Colony Furniture in Charlotte. She loved to travel, work outdoors, spending time with family, and also baked and decorated beautiful wedding cakes.

She is survived by a son, Mike Ormand and wife Leona of Lincolnton; one daughter, Candace McKinnon of Lincolnton; one sister, Gladys Payseur of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Kimberly Hopper and husband Billy, Kenny Ormand and wife Lynn, Jeffery Ormand, and Lisa Costner and husband James;  seven great-grandchildren; Lauren Ormand, Michael Pendleton, Brittany Ormand, Noah Pendleton, Katie Pendleton, Skyler Lafferty and Christian McKinney.
