Betty Jean Phillips Wayne, age 78, of 216 Old Park Road in Maiden, died on Sunday, September 14, 2014.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. David Jones, Rev. Arlie Roten, and Rev. Dwayne Pearson officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Sheets Cemetery in North Wilkesboro. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Ms. Wayne was born October 17, 1935, in Wilkes county, to the late Clarence and Beatrice Walsh Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Buren Vester Wayne, a son, Milton Scott Wayne, and a daughter, Freida Wayne Heafner. She worked as a sewer.

She is survived by a daughter, Teresa Artis of Maiden; four sisters, Pansy Laws of Lenoir, Katrina Staley, Norine Hood, and Lucy Laws, all of Boomer; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Goins and wife Amy, Lori Wise and husband Dean, Rodney Wayne and wife Susie, Christy Pearson and husband Matt, Chris Wayne and wife Shelly, and Joey Wayne and wife Holly; and eleven great-grandchildren.
