Lola “Juanita” Byrd Bowen, age 74, of 2146 Dale Avenue in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, September 17, 2014.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at Pearl Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Tim Walker officiating. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Ms. Bowen was born February 7, 1940, in Lincoln county, to the late Floyd and Mageline Auton Byrd. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Sylvester Byrd and Alvin Byrd, and sisters, Naomi Bivens and Frances Byrd. She worked for Lincoln County Schools.

She is survived by her husband. A.V. Bowen of the home; a son, Mike Bowen and wife Renee; four grandchildren, Jimmy Bowen and wife Stacy, Amy Matthews and husband Isaiah, Ashley Bowen, and Amanda Bowen; four great-grandchildren, Madison Bowen, Emma Bowen, Eli Matthews, and Rylan Matthews; and two sisters, Mary Jane Sisk and Margie Helms.
