Ernest “Everette” Clayton Young, age 85, of 982 George Brown Road in Crouse, died on Tuesday, September 30, 2014.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014, at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church with Mr. Bartley Bess and Rev. Ken Jones officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Young was born May 16, 1929, in Bakersville, NC to the late Arnold and Mollie McKinney Young. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers Eugene Young, Emmett Young, and Elmo Young. He served in the United States Navy and then later retired from the trucking industry where he worked as a diesel mechanic at Akers Motor Lines.

He is survived by his wife, Kate Bryant Young of the home; one son, Dale Young and wife Becky of Crouse; one daughter, Kimberly Y. Williams and husband Russell of Marion, NC; one sister, Edna Y. Greene of Bakersville, NC; four grandchildren, Radley Bess, Michael Young, Bartley Bess, and Matthew Young; and six great-grandchildren.
