Obituaries

Beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Mr. James Pinkney Reynolds, age 87, of 1773 Cameron Road in Lincolnton, died on Friday, October 31, 2014.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Brintley and Rev. Tommy Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Reynolds was born August 28, 1927, in Gaston County, to the late Epraim and Essie Annie Ramsay Reynolds. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by siblings Grace Hicks, Midge Colvard, Polly Crouse, Jack Reynolds, Sam Reynolds, Shirley Lail, and Verge Hallman. He worked in textiles for over 70 years, many of those years as supervisor.

Mr. Reynolds (“Pete”) enjoyed traveling and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to make memories with them.  He enjoyed watching old westerns and solving crossword puzzles.  He started each day with a cup of coffee as he read his Bible.  Pete leaves behind him a legacy of a deep devotion to family and God.  He greeted friends and strangers alike: with a smile and a kind word.  He was a true blessing to all who knew him.

He is survived by his beautiful wife of 65 years, Peggy Gilbert Reynolds of the home; three sons, Terry Reynolds (Betty) and Gary Reynolds (Betty), all of Lincolnton, and Rusty Reynolds (Donna) of Greensboro; one daughter, Sherry Chapman (Gary) of Lincolnton; one brother, Walter C. Reynolds of Lincolnton; eight grandchildren, Chad Reynolds (Karla), Amiee Stockton (Jeremy), Brandie Reynolds, Tommy Chapman (Lesley), Shelley Butler (Shawn), Travis Reynolds (Kristen), Hannah Reynolds, Michaela Reynolds; five great-grandchildren, Carson Chapman, James, Garrett, and Reid Butler, and Blakely Reynolds; and numerous nieces and nephews.
