Obituaries

Sue Goodson Ballard, age 95, of Abernethy Laurels, and formerly of Old Plank Road in Iron Station, died on Wednesday, November 19, 2014.

A graveside service will held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014, in the Machpelah Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. David Walker officiating. The family will greet friends graveside following the service.

Mrs. Ballard was born October 2, 1919, in Lincoln County, to the late Samuel and Nannie Poole Goodson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Ballard, four sisters, Alma Goodson, Macy Keever, Pauline Lawing, and Clafton Colvard, and two brothers, Keith (Bud) Goodson and Buck Goodson. She was the former owner of Catfish Country.

She is survived by four nephews, Sam Goodson and wife Jackie of Denver, Gerald Goodson and wife Pam of Ohio, Jimmy Keever of Denver, and Eddie Lawing of Terrell; and three nieces, Brenda Sigmon of Conover, Lynn Colvard of Texas, and Betty Sue Garmond of Charlotte.
