Obituaries
Adair Cantwell, age 80, died on Tuesday, November 25, 2014.
The daughter of D. Eph and Edith Whisenhunt, she was born in Winston-Salem on October 5, 1934. Grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Whisenhunt of Buchanan, Ga. And Dr. and Mrs. E. F. Adair of Gainesville, Ga. Adair was reared by her father and by a loving stepmother, Mary Lawton Whisenhunt.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Robert A. Cantwell of the home and one son, Allen Cantwell of San Jose, Ca. Grandchildren are Joshua and Abigail.
The family will receive friends Friday beginning at 5:30 pm at Warlick Funeral Home. The funeral will be in the funeral home chapel at 7:00 pm. Service participants will be Dr. Charles Brown, Teresa Shives, Mark Tipton and Dwight Turner.
Adair was a graduate of Meredith College and earned a Graduate degree in music from the School of Church Music at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky. She served churches in Chattanooga, Elizabeth City, Fallston and in Lincolnton where she was Minister of Music or organist at First Baptist for eleven years. She taught music for more than forty five years.
Active in Civic and cultural affairs, Adair was named LincolnCounty Woman of theYear in 1971. She delivered Meals on Wheels in Lincolnton for 16 years. Memberships included Daughters of the American Revolution and board service for Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln County. She served as president of the Lincoln Chapter of the N. C. Symphony and was for a number of years president of the Lincolnton County Concert Assoc. Adair was named a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow in January 2000.

Many will remember Adair as a gifted musician. Others will remember her as a gifted Bible teacher. All will remember her delightful sense of humor.
The service of burial is planned for Saturday at 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Highway 150 East.
