Obituaries

Mr. Thomas Elliott Potts, age 77 of Lincolnton died on Friday, November 28, 2014. His funeral service will be held 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Lincolnton with The Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 pm on Tuesday at the church prior to the service.

Mr. Potts was born July 28, 1937 in Lincoln County to the late Walter Andrew and Eva Lee Potts. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Reid Potts, Lee Potts and Miles Potts and three sisters, Ellen Mull, Virginia Lockman and Silvia Ballard. He attended Rock Springs School, Campbell College and served two years in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Duke Power Construction. Mr. Potts enjoyed sports, played basketball and professional baseball. He was a long time member of the Masonic Lodge #0592 Maiden Chapter.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Hicks Potts of the home; nephews, Barry Potts, Dean Potts, and Roger Ballard; nieces, Sue Ann Setzer, Millie Heavner, Sharon Bean and Donna Potts.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church General Fund or the Family Life Center Fund, 201 Robin Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
