Rachel Carpenter Hurt

Rachel Carpenter Hurt, age 83, of Stockton Trail in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, December 2, 2014.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014, at Gainsville Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hurt was born October 14, 1931, in Lincoln county, to the late Samuel Pinkney and Annie Wright Carpenter. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Millard Filmore Hurt, Jr. She was the owner of Hurt’s Children’s Shop and was a member of Gainsville Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda P. Anthony of Lincolnton and Lisa H. Strange of Hickory; a son, Danny F. Pendleton of Crouse; six grandchildren, Angelia Harr, Kim Lingerfelt, Jeremy Pendleton, Matthew Pendleton, Seth Smith, and Hayden Smith; and eight great-grandchildren, Alexa, Anna, Holden, Holyn, Carter, Bo, Emma Kate, and Henry.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice.
