Melvin Alonzo Hoffman
( July 13, 1933 - December 10, 2014 )
Melvin Alonzo “Bo” Hoffman, age 81, of 516 Buffalo Shoals Road in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, December 10, 2014.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Justin Houser and Rev. Ernie Richards officiating. Burial will follow in the Hulls Grove Baptist Church North cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2014, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Hoffman was born July 13, 1933, in Lincoln county, to the late Robert and Lena Beal Hoffman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Bumgarner. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and then later worked as a carpenter.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geneva Harkey Hoffman of the home; a daughter, Gail Hoffman Reep and husband Wayne of Lincolnton; a son, Mike Hoffman of Murfreesboro, TN; two brothers, David Hoffman and Darrell Hoffman, both of Lincolnton; four sisters, Elsie Keever, Delores Rhodes, Billie Chapman, and Sue Duncan, all of Lincolnton; six grandchildren, Dawn Wilmoth, Nathan Hoffman, Phillip Hoffman, Stephen Hoffman, Nicole Dimzon, and Jake Reep; six great-grandchildren, Kasi and Kaitlyn Morrison, Summer Begue, Brianna Hoffman, and Justin and Alexis Adams; and one great-great-grandson, Breylin Angulo.
Memorials may be made to the Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, 571 Salem Church Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
