Obituaries

Gladys Joyce Causey Gilbert, age 79, of Abernethy Laurels in Newton, and formerly of Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, December 30, 2014.

Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015, at Lincolnton Church of God with Rev. Dr. Richard King officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gilbert was born August 29, 1935, in Dillon, SC, to the late Willie and Lela Woodbury Causey. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Franklin Edison Gilbert, two brothers Archie Causey and William James Causey, sister Thelma Lowrimore, son-in-law Ricky Bridges, and nephew David Seymour. She worked with her husband at their family business.

She is survived by two sons, Frank Gilbert and Larry Gilbert, both of Lincolnton; three daughters, Virginia (Jenny) Bridges of Denver, Debbie Gilbert and husband Kevin of Lincolnton, and Barbara Rucker and husband Philip of Monroe; eight grandchildren, Steven Bridges and wife Shannon, Andrew Bridges and wife Vanessa, Keson Gilbert and wife Casey, Kenda Stouff and husband Erik, Dakota Gilbert, Caleb Gilbert, Christopher Rucker, and Morgan Rucker; six great-grandchildren, Sofia Bridges, Stella Bridges, Mary Ellen Bridges, Eason Stouff, Sydnie Stouff, and Greyson Gilbert; niece Gladys Hollis; and nephew Archie Lowrimore.
