Charlesanna Walker Leatherman
( February 23, 1927 - February 14, 2015 )
Mrs. Charlesanna Walker Leatherman, age 87, of 307 N. Roberta Avenue in Lincolnton, died on Saturday, February 14, 2015.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Lincolnton with the Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday following the service at the church.
Mrs. Leatherman was born February 23, 1927, in Guilford County, to the late James Claude and Mary Leach Walker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Edwin Leatherman.
Following college graduation, she accepted a position as a home demonstration agent with the Lincoln County Extension Service in the early 50s,She married Clarence E. Leatherman on April 5, 1952. During the years, she has been president of the Pilot Club, the Democrat Women, and school PTAs. Mrs. Leatherman was actively involved in the ministries of First Baptist Church. Above all she was an exceptional homemaker, mother, grandmother, excelling in passing enduring values to the next generation.
Survivors include two daughters, Celia Smith of Lincolnton, Rhonda Burns of Spartanburg, SC; one son, Lamont Leatherman of Saanichton, British Columbia, Canada; one brother, Milton Walker of Charlotte; one sister, Ruth Maynard of Wilsonville, OR; nine grandsons, Brantley Aaron Smith, Zachary Edwin Smith, Jeremy James Smith, Paul David Burns, Tyler Samuel Burns, Andrew Charles Burns, Jackson McLennan Leatherman, Walker Yates Leatherman, Levi William Leatherman.
