Donnie Pressley Culberson
( August 9, 1925 - March 25, 2015 )
Mr. Donnie Pressley Culberson, age 89, of the Brian Center, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2015.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at High Shoals Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Ingle and Rev. Dickie Whitener officiating. Burial will follow in High Shoals Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Culberson was born August 9, 1925, in Cleveland county, to the late James and Louella Mullinax Culberson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Belva Lee Thomas, a son Donnie Lee “Sam” Culberson, two brothers, five sisters, and a great-granddaughter Taffari Lanae Tester. Donnie was employed at Burlington Industries in High Shoals until he took a job as Magistrate for Lincoln county where he stayed until his retirement. He was also a faithful member of High Shoals Baptist Church where he served time as a deacon and as treasurer of his Sunday School class until the decline of his health. In his younger days he was a very active member of the political scene. The last three years he called Brian Center home, where in true fashion he made friends with all the staff.
He is survived by two daughters, Nancy Culberson Tester of Lincolnton and Kye Culberson Antemann of Mooresville; two granddaughters, Krystle Tester and Sharon Antemann; and one great-granddaughter.
