Sarah Austin Cooke

Sarah Austin Cooke, age 86, of 6256 Alyssum Place in Denver, died on Monday, May 25, 2015.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Denver United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Johnsen officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Sarah was born January 13, 1929, in Stanly County, to the late Jacob Archelus and Mary Hill Austin. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marta Hyatt. She graduated from Carolina Business School and then later worked as an administrator at The Plantation at Leesburg and then City Golf Course in Wilmington from where she retired. She was involved in her church, Denver United Methodist.
She is survived by three sons, Chuck Braswell and wife Shawn of Iron Station, Wayne Cooke and wife Tammy of South Carolina, and Kenneth Cooke and wife Sharon of Lincolnton; a brother, Gaither Austin of Stanfield; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Denver United Methodist Church, PO Box 661, Denver, NC 28037.
