Dale Powell

Dale Powell, age 89, of 7747 Reeps Grove Church Road in Vale, died on Wednesday, May 27, 2015.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Reeps Grove United Methodist Church with Pastor Travis Allshouse and Rev. Dr. Bob Lynn officiating. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2015, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Powell was born November 3, 1925, in Lincoln County, to the late James Henry and Essie Houser Powell. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Lahree Gantt Powell, brothers Henry Houser Powell, Carl G. Powell, Sr., and Claude Powell, and sisters Camilla Powell, Edith Peeler, Sharlene Peeler, and Nadine Biggerstaff. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and then retired after 28 years from Carolina Freight Carriers where he was a truck driver.
He is survived by a son, Wayne Gantt of Vale, a daughter, Tammi Powell of Vale; two sisters, Annie Merle Beal of Lincolnton and Sue Brendle of Vale; four grandchildren, Dustin Stamey of Denver, Donnie Gantt of Vale, Sonya Cook of Sherrills Ford, and Waynette Hewitt of Murrells Inlet, SC; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Reeps Grove United Methodist Church, 7401 Reeps Grove Church Road, Vale, NC 28168.
