Donald E. Lee Sipe
( May 24, 1936 - June 16, 2015 )
Donald E. Lee Sipe, age 79, of 772 Sipe Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, June 16, 2015.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rosa Erickson officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Luke’s Episcopal Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Sipe was born May 24, 1936, in Catawba County, to the late Everett Sipe and Bertha Lutz Cauthen. He served in the United States Army and worked as a mechanic at Westport Marina.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sara Bertha Peeler Sipe of the home; a son, Michael E. Sipe of Lincolnton; a daughter, Gayle Yount (Jimmy) of Lincolnton; a brother, Bobby Sipe (Judy) of Maiden; a sister, Jean Gilbert of Maiden; four grandchildren, Shane Reel (Wendy) and Emily Jones (Jeff) of Iron Station; Stephen Sipe (Dana) of Dallas, and Lee Sipe (Aleisha) of Lincolnton; and three great-grandchildren, Kaley Reel, Shelby Reel, and Madison Sipe. Five extended family grandchildren, Tammy Duckworth, Jennifer Hileman, and Kathryn Townsend of Hickory, Dylan Duncan of Charlotte, and Kelsy Pitts of Lincolnton.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092, or to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 315 N. Cedar Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
