Boyd Edward (Butch) Hicks, Jr.
( June 19, 1948 - June 24, 2015 )
Mr. Boyd Edward Hicks, Jr. (Butch), at the age of 67, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 24th.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park in Shelby. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents Boyd and Eleanor Hicks, paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Hicks, and maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Moffett.
With a pen and pad in hand, being deaf never hindered his interaction with others. Even though his sisters wanted him to live with them, Lincolnton was home. He wanted to stay near his many friends, especially those at Zippers who always made him feel welcome. His fun-loving personality was complimented by his wonderful smile. In years past he loved fishing and helped to develop deaf ministries in the community. Butch was a loving brother and Uncle who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by sisters Myra Nodine of Tuscaloosa, AL and Kathy Robinson (George) of Greensboro, NC. Butch was loved dearly by his nieces and nephews Denise Keeter, Crystal Flynn, Todd Nodine, Eddie Robinson, and Chris Robinson, plus his great nieces and nephews.
