Carroll Reece Hicks
( February 28, 1925 - September 7, 2015 )
Carroll Reece Hicks, age 90, of 102 Melody Drive in Gastonia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 6, 2015.
His funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2015, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sherman Branch and Dr. Ed Yount officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Assembly of God Cemetery in Bessemer City. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:15 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Hicks was born February 28, 1925, in Unicoi, TN, to the late James W. and Martha Wise Hicks. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son David Hicks. He worked as a truck driver, and later served as a chaplain at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Bynum Hicks of Gastonia; a son, James Hicks and wife Judy of Iron Station; two daughters, Marie Revels of Stanley and Marsha Morgan and husband Ken of Bessemer City;daughter-in-law, Suanne Hicks of Lincolnton; two stepsons, Jim Bynum and wife Robin of Spencer Mountain and Doug Bynum of Gastonia; one stepdaughter, Patti Ward and husband David of Stanley; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emmanuel Freewill Baptist Church Youth Fund, 208 N. Spargo Street, Dallas, NC 28034.
