Norman Debrell Black
( March 11, 1936 - September 9, 2015 )
Mr. Norman “Dooder” Debrell Black, age 79, of 8088 Graham Road in Denver, he passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 9, 2015.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Derrick Dellinger officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 6:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Black was born March 11, 1936, in Lincoln County, to the late William C. and Viola Aiken Black. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. He worked as a technician for Southern Bell/Bellsouth for 40+ years before retiring.
He is survived by a daughter, Kim Cook and husband Rich of Florida; son, Chris Black and wife Teresa of Missouri; a brother, Larry Black and wife Irene of Denver; three sisters, Annie Luckey of Charlotte, and Virginia Dowdle and Lillian Greene, both of Denver; four grandchildren, Lindsey Caldwell Reed of Charlotte, Amanda Caldwell McCathern of Georgia, Chris Black of Alabama, and Patrick Black of Missouri; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Levine & Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078.
