Lester Franklin Eaker, Sr.
( March 6, 1934 - October 15, 2015 )
Mr. Lester Franklin Eaker, Sr., age 81, of 124 Linwood Drive in Lincolnton, died on Thursday, October 15, 2015.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert Sain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
Mr. Eaker was born March 6, 1934, in Lincoln County, to the late Clyde and Ruth Thomas Eaker. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, James A. “Jimmy” Eaker, Sr. He was disabled while serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Lester then worked as a principal at Howards Creek Elementary and Long Shoals Elementary before later becoming a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Hoover Eaker of the home; a son, Lester Eaker, Jr. and wife Dyra of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Andrew Childs, Daniel Eaker, and James A. “Austin” Eaker, Jr.; and one great-grandson, Brady Childs.
