Betty Ruth Phifer Seaford

Betty Ruth Phifer Seaford, age 89, of Lincolnton died on Wednesday, November 18, 2015.
A Celebration of the Life of Mrs. Seaford will be 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Boger City United Methodist Church with Rev. Eric Reece and Rev. Joe Ervin officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service.
Mrs. Seaford was born on October 18, 1926 in Union County to the late Fred Pernay and Clara Huggins Phifer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Fred and her sister Atha Phifer Downes. Betty grew up in Union County and Marshville. After graduating from Pfeiffer Junior College, she began her work career at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, where she and Fred met. After moving to Lincolnton, she worked as church secretary at Boger City United Methodist Church and later at Vermont American. Betty enjoyed her many years of service in Pilot Club of Lincolnton. She was an avid bridge player and bridge remained a lifelong pleasure. Betty and Fred spent many happy hours together working to create their beautiful yard.
Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory a daughter, Beth Summitt and husband Tim of Lincolnton, her grandson Jonathan Summitt and wife Liz of Kings Mountain, sisters Frances Hinson and Marjorie Pennigar and husband Gary of Marshville, brother Fred Owen Phifer of Atlantis FL and each of their families.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Boger City United Methodist Church, 2320 East Main St., Lincolnton NC 28092, Hospice of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Dr., Lincolnton NC 28092, or Humane Society of Lincoln County, P.O. Box 23, Lincolnton, NC 28093.
