Obituaries

Barbara Elizabeth Thrower Adams, age 89, passed away on November 28, 2015 at her home at The Village at Germantown in Germantown, Tennessee. 

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday December 5, 2015 at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte, NC. 

Mrs. Adams was born in November of 1926 in Charlotte, NC to Mary Hatcher Thrower and Erving Glen “Baldy” Thrower.  She and her late husband John Adams were faithful to their church homes supporting local ministries with their time and resources.  A lifelong sports fan, Mrs. Adams played basketball at Berryhill High School in Charlotte and was a guard on the 1944 championship team.  They were tireless followers of Duke University athletics and traveled the world in support of the Duke Basketball team. They lived most of their golden years on Lake Norman in North Carolina and loved the friends, family and community which were a rich part of their life.  Mrs. Adams continued to enjoy Duke Athletics and the Memphis Grizzlies Basketball late into life. 

She is survived by two sons, Bob Adams (Jane) of Germantown TN and John Adams, Jr. (Joy) of Key West, FL and three grandchildren, Nic Adams of Olive Branch, MS, Austin Adams of Hayden, AL and David Adams of St. John, USVI.
